Boat Holidays

A guide to boat holidays and boating holidays

Why should you consider a boating holiday? It is one of the most relaxing holidays you can have as everything happens at a slow pace and you quickly realise that there is no rush. Our boats travel at a fast walking pace and you have time - time to decide what to do next; time to have a cup of tea (or a glass of wine!); time to watch the wildlife and scenery. Unlike fast boats or sea-going yachts, hazards are rare and you have no tides or currents to worry you. There are hundreds of places where you can tie up on your boating holiday in Ireland and lots of places to stop and eat.

A boating holiday is great for families and takes you away from the pressures of the modern world. TV doesn't work that well and video games certainly don't. You can play cards, board games or simply talk to each other. Children are welcome to go for a paddle in the dinghy (but must wear a lifejacket) and they love exploring the off-the-beaten-track parts of the river. Many of the jetties on Lough Erne are on islands where they can explore the trails and paths. And many jetties are in Forest Parks where there are nature trails.

Bicycles can be rented with your boating holiday to let you explore slightly further afield or to get up to the shops.

That's the other thing about a boating holiday - you are completely self-contained as your house, your transport and all your food and drink goes with you. There are few other extra expenses as you move from town to town or from fishing place to fishing place with very little extra expense.

So check out the Hire Companies listed and see why a boating holiday is just the thing for the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday around.

We hope to welcome you soon on a boating holiday.
